Are you proud?
"I am proud of you in ways that have nothing to do with triumph. Can you be proud of you?"
"There are darknesses in life and there are lights, and you are one of the lights, the light of all lights." - George Eliot
Longing,
that old and faithful animal,
lifts its head
inside my chest.
It always knows
your name.
I am proud of you
in ways that have nothing
to do with triumph.
Can you be proud of you?
Proud of the softness you have
refused to surrender.
Proud that the world has not persuaded you
to mistake spirituality for weakness.
Proud of every battle you have survived
without allowing bitterness to inherit your smile.
There is courage in remaining yourself.
There is greatness in growing into it.
If you ever forget how incredible you are,
lend me your uncertainty.
I will hold it beside my certainty
until it learns its own light.
One day, time will silver our hair.
It will scatter its small mercies
and inevitable griefs across our lives.
What astonishing luck,
to love someone
whose soul
makes room.
I know that somewhere within
all that ordinary eternity,
I will still look at you
with the same bewildered gratitude I carry now
still unable to comprehend how one human being
could make the whole wide world feel
so endlessly worth loving.
And if, one day,
my poems are forgotten,
their pages returned
to pulp,
their ink
to silence,
I hope something gentler survives.
The simple truth
that once,
in this beautiful world,
I loved someone
so completely
that even the language
began to curl towards him,
like wildflowers
turning, again
and again,
towards the light
they never doubted
would return.
Little author’s note: I hope you will have the privilege of loving someone as deeply as I get to. It is truly miraculous to experience and I am eternally grateful that I have gotten to meet my soulmate and lifepartner at the age of only 20. I will fight for us and our future, long distance won’t break such a connection. If you read this, my love muse, I love you.
I just finished moving my stuff into my first little studio apartment! It’s not much but it’s mine, damn proud. So, this will basically be the last month writing from this environment, the entire setup and area will change. Hopefully it will make room for new inspiration. But yeah, a little life update from my side for anyone that cares. (I know you do, Seb, love it).

well this is beautiful
Congratulations on your move!! Wishing you much happiness and more poetry, though that’s just me being selfish LOL
