Train window
"Go, be everything"
The train window is a moving mirror,
the glass cold against my temple.
Fields blur into watercolors,
houses drift away
before I can learn their names.
Your voice arrives through a wire.
Warmth wrapped in static,
a small hearth I cup in my hands.
Outside, towns pass
like sentences I will never finish reading.
You speak of elsewhere
as if it already has your name.
Sunlight, salt air, streets that do not know your history.
I hear the horizon widening behind your words
and smile,
even as something in me grows quiet.
You are still here, technically.
Breath, voice, a time zone not yet crossed.
But the idea of your leaving
has already taken its seat beside me,
polite and inevitable.
So I watch the landscape blur,
and whisper into the window’s cold skin.
Go where your light expands.
Even if my world stays small,
even if my sky remains familiar grey,
I want your sky to be endless.
I carry only one wish,
your light blooms unhindered,
joy finds you without pause,
without me.
Go, be everything.
For now, the tracks keep singing,
your voice stays warm in my ear,
and the world has not yet split in two.
This poem is written for a very special someone who will be travelling far and long. I wish you a safe journey and I hope you know that my heart is always open for you. And sadly, I will not apologise for the ridiculous amount of love poems I have been writing about him. Love is something to cherish.

There’s so much love and longing in these words
