Grief's sibling
"So why now does it feel like my skin is slightly too small for the amount of life pressing against it?'
"Life can be magnificent and overwhelming – that is the whole tragedy. Without beauty, love, or danger, it would almost be easy to live." — Albert Camus
I am here.
Technically functioning,
doing more than fine,
but not quite inside myself.
So why now does it feel like my skin is slightly too small
for the amount of life pressing against it?
Small administrative knives disguised as tasks.
Nothing here is new enough
to justify the feeling of being unsteady inside it.
Even when things are good,
nothing is wrong,
there is this ache that keeps expanding.
As if my body learned you exist
and now refuses to go back to not having you nearby.
It’s strange how relief can feel like grief’s sibling.
I should have been more prepared
for things going well.
For you being received into the world
instead of having to be defended from it.
And still
even with that, even with everything aligning
more gently than I feared
I miss you.
Hey guys! Sorry, I was on vacation. And then life just immediately starts again. I don’t exactly love it. I don’t feel like I can ground myself anymore. So, if you got any tips for that? Oh, (I am looking at you Sebastian lol), my muse has turned into my significant other. I hope you guys are happy to hear that. I love you, Mitch, if you do read this silly footnote.

This was such a cool, different poem, but also sending you many hugs across the digital realm.
"And still
even with that, even with everything aligning
more gently than I feared
I miss you."
^ Those lines. I absolutely adored the way you broke them up. Your poems are so pretty to look at visually, as well as read in my head. Wish I had some good grounding tips... writing about how you're feeling is a good start. Maybe sitting in silence for a little bit and practicing some deep breathing. It helps me, personally, when I'm feeling kind of weird and not totally there.
YES, YOU AND MITCH ARE A THING NOW! He better treat you right or he's gonna catch these hands. Respectfully, of course. *chucks confetti to the wind*
